The York Alumnae Chapter continually supports education in many ways; providing thousands of dollars in college scholarships to deserving high school graduates; working directly with youth through our GEMS program, participating in school events such as Back to School Kickoffs and giveaways, and by consistently lobbying our legislators to vote for fair and equitable school funding.
The York Alumnae Chapter has hosted numerous voter registration, issue awareness and education sessions. We will continue to lobby our legislators and organize our communities to demand social justice in all areas, including a living wage for the lowest wage workers in our communities.
Our chapter currently partners with a school in Apam Ghana to provide educational materials for students.
We are committed to being on the front lines of issues of the Diaspora both locally and worldwide, whether it be supporting a maternity hospital in Kenya, a school in Haiti, or assisting international areas during natural disasters.
York Alumnae's history has included providing workshops and events that promote heart health, exercise through walking and line-dancing, breast cancer awareness, eating healthier and hair health.
