Our chapter partners with a school in Apam, Ghana, to provide educational materials, reflecting our commitment to the Diaspora. Whether supporting a maternity hospital in Kenya, a school in Haiti, or assisting during natural disasters, we remain on the front lines of global and local issues.
As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, we reflect on our 1984 chartering by 12 visionary women. They rose to meet the challenges facing York—such as the rise in teen pregnancy—with passion and purpose. One of their earliest triumphs was the Peppermint Ball, a debutante gala that celebrated Black excellence and raised vital scholarship funds to pave pathways to higher education.
For the York Alumnae Chapter, Sisterhood, Scholarship, and Service form our foundation; our members are the heart, and Social Action is our enduring conscience. To honor our legacy, we have launched the annual Crimson Ties Initiative: Grassroots Connections Increasing Community Impact. This initiative provides laser-focused support to one grassroots organization each year, helping them build capacity and fulfill their self-determined needs.
Our lifelong commitment is rooted in social action and our promise of servant-leadership.
